Our Story: Meet Pat, Cam, and Will Spencer
“This is just the beginning.”
"While we are not big on social media or the spotlight, we know we can use our position to bring people together for something bigger than ourselves."
- Cam Spencer
Pat Spencer plays for the Golden State Warriors. His brother Cam plays for the Memphis Grizzlies. But growing up in Maryland, some of their strongest role models were not professional athletes - they were Naval Academy midshipmen.
The Spencer brothers announce the launch of the Spencer Brothers Foundation, focused on supporting veterans struggling with PTSD. Their approach combines fundraising for treatment programs with investing in clinical research, including cold-water immersion therapy through their venture, Chillshark.
"They become part of your family. They come over, grab a bite to eat, hang, feel like they have a place where they are not stuck on military ground all day. When you hear their stories personally and follow their journeys, it gives you a different perspective on life.”
- Pat Spencer
A Family Tradition
The Spencer family dinner table sits 15 minutes from Annapolis. Since 2006, that table has welcomed midshipmen for Friday night steaks, college football games, and birthday celebrations that grew bigger each year.
What started with one midshipman in need of a home-cooked meal turned into two, then their friends joined in, then their younger siblings who followed them to the Academy years later. Their mother keeps the freezer stocked. Their father grills every Friday. The traditions grow stronger each year.
One of their first sponsored midshipmen now serves as a Navy SEAL. Another teaches at the Academy, bringing his children by the Spencer house when he is in town.
Looking Forward
"We want to be direct about our goals," Pat emphasizes. "We aim to raise significant funds and ensure they reach the right programs."
The Spencer Brothers Foundation begins with a focus on veterans battling PTSD, partnering with organizations doing proven work in treatment and support.
But Pat, Cam, and Will envision this as just the beginning. Their approach combines verified partnerships, innovative support methods, and potential future programs including youth camps and expanded veteran services.
In August 2025, they will host their inaugural Golf & Poker Invitational at Queenstown Harbor. The two-day event brings together their professional sports network and military community for tournament play, with proceeds supporting veteran programs.
The foundation builds on the brothers' professional sports network while maintaining their hands-on, family-centered approach to giving back.
Each initiative will grow from the same spirit that welcomed midshipmen to their family table - creating real connections that make lasting impact.
